The Antro del Corchia, with its 53 km of tunnels and wells, holds the national supremacy of the largest underground karst complex. Even the difference in height, with its 1187 m height between the highest opening and the bottom of the cave, is one of the highest traceable values of the Italian and European territory.
The particularity of the Corchia System of the Corchia is above all in its extreme morphological and evolutionary complexity. It is in fact a three-dimensional lattice enclosed in a volume of marbles and dolomites of about 2 km in length, 1 km in width and almost 1200 m in height.
An equipped path, of about 1 km, allows tourists to penetrate inside the Corchia and reach the heart of the mountain and the karst system. |
